"We try to come probably about four to five times a month," said Joe Firenze Jr., of Fulton. "We go to a lot of them but I prefer this one," said Patrick LaMacchia of Liverpool. Many said they love going to Vernon Downs. Racino-goers tell Melissa Krull why they hope the doors remain open. Leaders say that's because State Assembly lawmakers have not yet passed legislation providing tax relief, and the clock is ticking. Vernon Downs is beginning the process of closing.
